70 brands participate in Decentraland's Metaverse Fashion Week

Decentraland's Metaverse Fashion Week kicked off on 24 March. From luxury fashion designers to digital-native wearable vendors, visitors can see various brands showcasing their non-fungible token (NFT) collections, breakthrough activations, and digital spaces in the blockchain-based metaverse.

Among the 60+ brands participating in the first-ever Metaverse Fashion Week are Tommy Hilfiger, Estée Lauder, Dolce & Gabbana, Eli Saab, Franck Muller, and Forever 21. Many of these brands spent weeks getting ready and securing metaverse-ready trademarks in what now looks to be a proactive brand protection campaign ahead of their NFT debut.

According to Decentraland's creative director Sam Hamilton, Decentraland's Fashion Week is done to provide a space for people to express themselves and expand the understanding of their own self through wearables on their avatars.

The newly created Fashion District is open to the public during the event, from 24 to 27 March. The district is divided into different areas where brands and designers host their catwalks, galleries, panels, stores, and more. The 6,000-square-foot-plot is owned by the Metaverse Group. Last November, the virtual real estate company bought the land plot for 2.4 million USD.

One of the most popular areas is the Luxury Fashion District, which is presented by UNXD and Vogue Arabia. Here, visitors can find some of the most iconic fashion brands making their debut in Web3. These include Etro, Elie Saab, DUNDAS, Imitation of Christ, Franck Muller, Nicholas Kirkwood, Chufy, FaithTribe, and more.

Other areas, such as Rarible Street, The Parcel-MetaParty Community Precinct, CashLabs, and numerous flagship stores, are also receiving lots of visitors.

Aside from the fashion shows, panels, pop-up stores, and galleries, Decentraland's Metaverse Fashion Week also features after parties. Big names like Bob Sinclair, Nicki Nicole, Blond:ish, and DJ ICYKOF will perform at the after-parties.
