The Sandbox passes 2M users and begins Alpha Season 2


The Sandbox, an Animoca Brands subsidiary and a popular gaming virtual world, has reached two million registered users since its initial launch 13 months ago. This milestone comes as the metaverse launched its highly anticipated Alpha Season 2, which features a wide range of new experiences.

The Sandbox Alpha Season 2 is available for all registered users, including those who sign up during the four-week event, with free access to more than 35 solo and multiplayer experiences. These include Snoop Dogg’s Foreplay, sneak peek into the rap legend's Snoopverse, and Hong Kong’s Star Ferry Pier, a time-travelling tour of Hong Kong’s famous pier made possible by the historical archive of South China Morning Post. Additionally, with the launch of Alpha Season 2, Mac users can now participate alongside PC players. 

Experiences are released each weekday, including new original experiences such as a fashion show, enhanced versions of the content introduced in Alpha Season 2, a new transportation hub, and new tracks from DJ and entertainer Blond:ish in Club XYZ.

Furthermore, the Alpha Season 2 also includes four new titles by The Sandbox Game Maker Fun. The Game Maker Fund is established to support independent game developers to create rich and deep games in multiple categories. More experiences, ranging from racing and social experiences to platform games and RPGs, are currently in development. 

Players can collect raffle tickets for a chance to win a free Season 2 Alpha Pass by completing more than 200 gaming missions through play-to-earn. In total, 10,000 Alpha Season 2 Passes are available. Each of these passes gives players a chance to win up to 1,000 $SAND rewards.
