Atari Moves Forward with Plans to Build a Metaverse Casino

Atari, the pioneer video game developer responsible for legendary titles like Ms Pacman and Pong, is reportedly going through with their plans to build a cryptocurrency casino in Vegas City — a district in the Decentraland metaverse which is planned to emulate the real-life sin city. The move follows a growing trend in the gaming sector, which includes the creation of numerous virtual casinos by a new NFT project dubbed Sand Vegas Casino Club (SVCC).

According to a PSFK iW Report issued this month, titled Brand Strategies For The Metaverse, Atari wants to create and establish a virtual casino in Vegas City with Atari-themed games as a part of an initial two-year loan term inside the virtual land and metaverse platform. The partnership between Atari and Decentral Game was announced in March 2021 and held a virtual launch party of the casino in late April last year.

Players will be able to explore and search for Atari's special wearables around the planned casino, which will run on the Ethereum blockchain through Decentraland (MANA). According to the report, the casino will include various video games that Atari has created throughout their 50-year history since the creators want to see how "social and monetary metaphysical potential" might be brought to life in the metaverse.
